PILGRIMS' SOCIETY GROWING
Dinner Will Be Given at London in the Last Week of June.

London, May 6. -- This Pilgrims' Society, which was quietly
organized here less than a year ago by Mr. Lindsay Russell
and a few other American and English gentlemen, and whose object
has been to promote good feeling between England and America, has
now grown to proportions not contemplated by its founders, and
from the prominence of its members already wields a great influence
in the social and political relations of the two countries.

Wyndham Hopes Ireland Will Become a Bond with America.

London, June 19. -- The first annual dinner of the Pilgrims Society
was given at Prince's Restaurant to-night, and was presided over by
the venerable W.M. Sinclair, archdeacon of London, with the chief
secretary for Ireland, George Wyndham, as the principal guest.
Among those present at the gathering were Senator Chauncey Depew,
Perry Belmont, Lord Fairfax, Gen. Sir George White, Gen. Sir Ian Hamilton,
Secretary Carter and Capt. Stockton, of the United States Embassy;
James Macdonald, the Duke of Newcastle, Lord Napier, Sir Gilbert Parker,
Richard Peabody, Sir John Puleston, the Prince of Thurn and Taxis,
Sir Horace Walpole, C.F. Moberly Bell, of the London Times; Egerton Castle,
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and many other distinguished men from both countries.

New York, Jan. 29. -- Interchanges of cable messages of good will with the
English Pilgrims at supper at the Carlton Hotel. London, formed a striking
feature of the banquet given at Delmonico's to-night by the Pilgrims of the
United States in honor of sir Henry Mortimer Durand, the British Ambassador,
Bishop Potter presided.

received by King Edward and the members of the cabinet and entertained socially by
royalty and the leaders of English society, made his first public appearance as Ambassador
to-night at a dinner given in his honor by the Pilgrims' Society of London.

Premier Balfour, in his speech at the banquet tendered Ambassador Reid by the Pilgrims'
Society of London, was good enough to remind the distinguished company there assembled
that in the future the United States must put up with more or less entangling connections

Upon Rear Admiral Robley D. Evans will fall the pleasant duty of receiving in behalf of the
United States government the British squadron in command of Prince Louis of Battenberg when
it arrives at Annapolis and New York next month. With his warships, Admiral Evans will be at
anchorage when the great vessels of Prince Louis steam up the Chesapeake and round the point
into the mouth of the Severn, to the boom of the admiral's salute from the battle-ship and
armored cruiser division of the North Atlantic fleet.

New York, Nov. 8. -- Eighteen American and British warships, from their anchorage in the North River,
will fire in unison at noon to-morrow a national salute of twenty-one guns in honor of King Edward's
birthday. Bach ship will be in full dress, a rainbow of flags stretching from stem to stern. Rear
Admiral Prince Louis of Battenberg, with his squadron of six armored cruisers, is expected to arrive
from Annapolis early to-morrow morning, coming to anchor probably about 8 o'clock.

Banquet, to Show It Can Care for Its Own.

New York, April 23. -- The 120th annual dinner of the St. George Society of New York was held
to-night at the Waldorf-Astoria, and was attended by nearly 400 members of the society and their
guests. Lieut. Col.Count Gleichen, a cousin of King Edward, and military attache of the British
Embassy at Washington, was the principal guest. Sir Percy Sanderson, the British consul at New
York, and S. Uchida, Japanese consul general, were among those at the speakers' table.

Pilgrims' Society Arranging Banquet to New Ambassador.

Elaborate preparations for the reception of James Bryce, the newly appointed British Ambassador
to the United States, are being made in this city. Earns Howard, the new counselor and charge
d'affaires, has received official information that Mr. Bryce will sail from England February 13
and arrive in this city about February 21.

London, April 19. -- Field Marshal Lord Roberts presided at a banquet given this evening at Claridge's
by the Pilgrims'Society in honor of the various colonial prime ministers who are at present in London
to take part in the colonial conference. It was the most brilliant of the honors accorded the visiting
premiers since their arrival in this city.

London, May 2. -- The London branch of the Pilgrims' Society did its best to put Dr. David Jayne Hill
in a most unbecoming and uncomfortable position. The society undertook to get up a banquet in London
to celebrate the "happy" denouncement of his difficulty with Kaiser William.

London, Nov. 28 -- Thanksgiving day was marked in England, as usual, by a banquet of the American Society,
held at tha Hotel Cecil. It cannot be said that any special distinction was conferred upon the occasion
by the speeches, nor were the English guests who graced the festive board of any particular light and leading.

Victors and Vanquished Entertained by the Pilgrims.

London, July 16. -- The Meadowbrook polo team, victorious in the recent contests for the American polo cup,
and the members of the British team that played against them were entertained at luncheon today at the Savoy
Hotel by the Pilgrims Society. About one hundred guests, including prominent English sportsmen, were present.
The greatest good feeling was manifested, and the Americans were warmly cheered.

London, Nov. 19. -- The Pilgrim Society of London gave a farewell dinner tonight to John Ridgely Carter,
former secretary of the American embassy here, on the eve of his departure for his new post as minister to Roumania,
Servia, and Bulgaria. Sir Mortimer Durand, former British ambassador to the United States, presided and proposed a
toast to King Edward and President Taft, during which he praised the American executive.

London, Mar. 10 -- British Methodists gathered in force today to meet former Vice President Fairbanks on the
occasion of a luncheon given in his honor by Secretary Robert Perks. Walter Runciman and a score of other members

To bring about better acquaintance, closer sympathy, and larger commerce among the 21 republics of the western
hemisphere, a movement to organize the "Pan-American Society of the United States," with headquarters in New York
and branches in the other principal cities of the country, has been initiated by Director General John Barrett,
of the PanAmerican Union.

London, Nov. 18. -- The Pilgrims' Society gave a luncheon today in honor of the officers of the third division of
the American Atlantic fleet, now at Gravesend. Vice Admiral Sir Hedworth Lambton presided, and had Rear Admiral
Joseph B. Murdock, commander of the visiting battleshlps, at his right. Both admirals made speeches.

London, May 23. -- The dinner of the Pilgrims Society tonight in honor of the colonial premiers was historic because
of unexpected and noteworthy plain speaking by Sir Wilfrid Laurier, the premier of Canada. Sir Wilfrid, addressing
an audience composed of many of the great men of England, handled the annexation question without gloves.

London, June 28. -- The dinner of the Pilgrims' Society tonight in honor of John Hays Hammond, special American Ambassador
at the coronation, gave occasion for four speeches, which were considered by all present the best exhibition of after-dinner
oratory heard in London for a long time. The speakers were Arthur J. Balfour, former prime minister; Mr. Hammond,
Augustin Birrell, chief secretary for Ireland, and Chauncey M. Depew, former United States senator.

London, June 24. -- The Pilgrim Society of Great Britain, at a dinner tonight, celebrated the tenth anniversary of the
founding of the Organization. A number of American pilgrims were present, and it was announced that a large British delegation
would attend the tenth anniversary dinner of the Pilgrim Society of America, which will be held at New York next spring.

James Bryce, the British Ambassador to the United States, has tendered his resignation, and will return to England.
There has been no official announcement of the resignation, and the embassy will make no statement, but Mr. Bryce on Saturday
informed President Taft of his action.

and had as supporters at the head of the table Sir Edward Grey, the British foreign secretary; the Earl of Halsbury, former lord chancellor;
the Earl of Aberdeen, lord lieutenant of Ireland, and Augustine Birrell, chief secretary for Ireland.
