What do war, peace, education, communication, community, environment, technology and Internet all have in common?
Global Peace.
Since "The War to End All Wars", war and peace have been joined at the hip.

Peace Keeping has become a military or para military function both internationally, and in the US, at the local level where military style "Law Enforcement" has replaced the former "Peace Officer" function of the County Sheriff.

Peace Gaming - Peace Corp "I invite all the nations of the world to use this technology to bring about international peace and universal brotherhood." -- Pres. J. F. Kennedy

It was also Kennedy who introduced disarmament to an International body in 1962. Disarmament is the primary function of the US military. The War in Iraq was about disarming a nation of it's weapons of mass destruction. The main issue with Iran and North Korea is disarmament.

..."Satan keeps working thru occultic men and leaders such as Hitler and many others in order to bring back that lost age, his Lost Golden Age* hence the modern New Age movement attempting to foster and achieve the exact same today, yet using an altogether new tactic...the mantra of peace, or killing the masses through kindness, seemingly "helpful" and benevolent spiritualism that mandates they are their own God as well as having them believe Christ was one of many throughout history, exactly what Freemasonry believes. (*The 'Lost Golden Age' is also connected to King Arthur's Camelot, the Atlantis of it's time, called the once and future Kingdom)." ~ The Antichrist Revealed

"Two longtime proponents of national service programs, Sens. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Evan Bayh (D-Ind.), devised the legislation "to provide Americans with more opportunities to serve their country," said Bayh's spokeswoman, Meghan Keck. When it stalled as a separate bill, aides to the senators said, they folded it into a 306-page defense budget bill, where it did not attract opposition." Peace Corps Option for Military Recruits Sparks ConcernsThis is totally compatible with the Bush initiative for "Faith Based Charity". In the games of war and peace, perception is everything. They are two arms of the same animal. The left hand knows what the right hand is doing, but for the sake of appearance, the two must act independently. At least that has been the standard operation procedure, but now economic pressures may be forcing them to drop all pretense, as they pool their resources.

USING GLOBAL-SCALE TOOLS FOR RESEARCH ON HUMAN CRISES

the visionary proposals of Rischard (2002) for solving twenty major human crises by 2020 Because of technological and economic revolutions (the networking economy), he says, there can and must now be "new shapes to human institutions and new approaches to global problem-solving." He recommends Blown To Bits (Evans1999) for seeing "how things must be done differently from now on." The new world of education will be "bent on speed;' will flow across national boundaries; be one in which there must be constant, lifelong learning; and hyper competitiveness. The rate of inevitable change, he says, "contrasts starkly with the slow evolution of human institutions."

Because when you strip away from the average college graduate [what he] knows about technology and entertainment, what remains “won’t get us through the 21st century.” LEARNING IN A PROFOUNDLY DIFFERENT FUTURE

Updates:

Right minded people everywhere love peace, but this currently popular theme of peace and love is the continuing saga of the 1960's counter-cultural revolution which was an equal partner of the cold war. If not for such things as the cold war, and the war on terror, there would be no attraction to peace games, there would be no institutes for peace, people like Maria Heller, Rush Limbaugh, et al, would have to seek real work, and kindhearted people everywhere would have to find more practical outlets for their energy closer to their own homes. Clues to the beginning of a New World Order: Why it was necessary, it's objectives of global unity, and the beginning of the peace movement: “The winds of despair”, Bahá’u’lláh wrote, “are, alas, blowing from every direction, and the strife that divides and afflicts the human race is daily increasing. The signs of impending convulsions and chaos can now be discerned, inasmuch as the prevailing order appears to be lamentably defective.” ~ The Promise of World Peace

BEIJING, Aug 26 (Xinhuanet) -- More than 200 WWII veterans around the world will gather in Beijing this September to sign a peace declaration marking the 60th anniversary of the victory in World War II.
"Love life and cherish peace are the tenets," said Jiang Beichen, the drafter of the Beijing Declaration for Peace, on Friday. WWII veterans to hail peace in Beijing
