Chicken Little

Seraphim: Congregator can u explain what your trying to say as if I were a three year old ?
Once upon a time, there lived a little red hen named Chicken Little. She lived in a big chicken yard with lots of other chickens. There were trees, meadows of green grass and open plains where many wild animals roamed. There lived the Big Bad Wolf, and many other fearsome creatures, and some less fearsome like ol' Sly Fox. Life was good and there was nothing lacking.
Then one day Chicken Little was foraging for food under a giant oak tree, and as she was clucking and scratching, unknown to her, Mr. Squirrel was gathering acorns high up in the tree for his winter food supply. Suddenly as he reached for a nice plump one, it drop off and tumbled down and finally landed right on the top of poor Chicken Little's head. Sqwaaak! cried Chicken Little, the sky is falling...! the sky is falling! Her friend dominekar cried out, Run, run! Run as fast as you can, the sky is falling! Sqwaaak! Soon all the chickens heard the frightening news and they all sounded the alarm in unison.
Ol' Sly Fox did a quick test and said, my goodness, why yes, I do believe the sky is falling. Why don't you all follow me. I know a place of safety where the sky will not fall on your heads. Just come along now to my lair, I'll show you the way. A hush suddenly fell over the chicken yard as the good news of safety spread. Finally everyone was gathered inside ol' Sly Fox's den, and all the chickens now felt very tranquil and happy.
And safe!
It was a large place, but there were no trees and it was dark and there was no sky, but at least it wouldn't fall on them and they were so happy. It was a win-win situation for all. The chickens were safe and peaceful and ol' Sly Fox didn't have to work so hard hunting all night for his food.
Sometimes on nice sunny days, ol' Sly would send them all out to look for other chickens who were still lost and wandering around aimlessly. Occasionally a well known little chick would be missing, but no one ever quite knew what had happened to her, and then she would soon be forgotten.
But everyone was so very happy.

Seraphim: Congregator can u explain what your trying to say as if I were a 11 year old now?
Now that you're growing up Seraphim, you will soon be faced with many difficult decisions. Mommy and daddy won't always be here to care for you and comfort you and watch over you. Its a very ugly world out there Seraphim, with many traps set to ensnare innocent ones.
Do you remember the story of Chicken Little? What was the lesson? Why don't you tell me, what were some of the important points?
Well, yes thats true it did help you to go to sleep at night. What else do you recall?
Okay then. Well, you see the chickens are like ordinary people who are primarily concerned with earning a living and minding their own business and doing things which improve the quality of their life, until something bad happens to them. Then they try to explain how this could have happened. Some among them are different, they are not like chickens at all. They seem to be so calm and confident, so some of them quite naturally attract a large following of chickens who admire their strong compelling character. They are the sly old foxes.
Yes, they make certain demands on people's liberties. Its true that the fox feeds on them and allows the big bad wolf to feed of some of the flock who stray to far from the den, but those demands are easily justified by the chickens. After all the fox does warn them of the wolf, and he provides shelter from many of life's hazards.
But Seraphim, the place of safety is an illusion created by a devouring lion. Safety is not found in a place such as a religion or an association of nice folks, rather it is a condition of the heart. Jesus taught us how to develop that good heart by building morality, that is living up to our design potential being made in the image of our Creator and submitting to him on the basis of our knowledge of him.
Those who follow Jesus Christ by truly practicing the things he taught will realize their responsibility for their own morality and develop it to the highest standard. We do this by applying the principles illustrated by Jesus above the letter of the words he use to illustrate those principles. The words constitute the illustration. The principles themselves are the things illustrated. Simply quoting scripture and living by the letter of the law does not truly apply the underlying principles, and it destroys our ability to build good Christian morality, the essence of life.
If it is not leading to life, then it must lead to death.
