"King of the Jews", Zionism and "The Jewish Conspiracy"

“It’s no great secret why the Jewish agencies continue to trumpet support for the discredited policies of this failed administration. They see defense of Israel as their number-one goal, trumping all other items on the agenda. That single-mindedness binds them ever closer to a White House that has made combating Islamic terrorism its signature campaign. The campaign’s effects on the world have been catastrophic. But that is no concern of the Jewish agencies.”Dear John, December 8, 2006, statement by JJ Goldberg, editor of Forward (the leading Jewish weekly in the United States)

Many Jewish writers, including those who are somewhat critical of Israel, have raised pointed questions about our critique of the Zionist power configuration (ZPC) in the United States and what they wrongly claim are our singular harsh critique of the state of Israel. Some of these accusers claim to see signs of ‘latent anti-Semitism’, others, of a more ‘leftist’ coloration, deny the influential role of the ZPC arguing that US foreign policy is a product of ‘geo-politics or the interests of big oil. With the recent publication of several widely circulated texts, highly critical of the power of the Zionist ‘lobby’, several liberal pro-Israel publicists generously conceded that it is a topic that should be debated (and not automatically stigmatized and dismissed) and perhaps be ‘taken into account.’

speech of Haim Hayet, Head of the World Zionist Organization Department for Hagshama
[...]
The model for the “State of the Jews” would be based on all the components and levels of the cultural superstructure, but in which “the rabbis are confined to their synagogues and the military to the barracks, that themselves be not dedicated to politics”.
In his vision, Herzl saw the Jewish masses flowing to the national home led by an elite pulling the train of history towards his model State.
Herzl was not only a visionary and an utopist. This young 37 year old journalist was dedicated until his death to the implementation of his ideas. He created a political instrument: the Zionist Movement. The Congresses, the World Zionist Organization, the National Funds, lay the foundations for the basis of a bank which would not depend on the large Jewish philanthropists of those days.
Herzl, the man with the beard, the King of the Jews” was received by emperors and rulers in his tireless efforts to obtain a “Jewish National Home”. The home in which his Zionist Movement would bring the Jewish masses, but with a warning: “Political Zionism has not been created to transfer Jews from one place of distress to another, we do not dedicate ourselves to 'smuggle' people”.

Think Tribal, Speak Universal
By: Gilad Atzmon
I may as well be the King of The Jews. I have achieved the unachievable, accomplished the impossible. I have managed to unite them all: Right, Left and Centre. The entirety of the primarily-Jewish British political groups: the Zionists the anti-Zionists, Jewish Socialists, Tribal Marxists, The Board of Deputies, Jewish Trotskyites, Jews Sans Frontieres, Jews Avec Frontieres for the first time in history all speak in one single voice. They all repeat exactly the same misquotes. They all hate Gilad Atzmon.
“Pretty impressive,” I think to myself, “I must be doing something right.” Yet, I am slightly confused by my own achievement. When it comes down to it, I’m not the canonical enemy; I am a jazz musician and author. I am not a politician, nor am I a member of any party. I do not present or support any political agenda. I have never been involved in any act of violence (not even as an Israeli soldier) nor have I ever called for violence. I am what some may call an “independent critical thinker”. It is my personal understanding that I choose to share with my readers and listeners. I express my very own reading into events and some speculations regarding the notion of identity. I write about things that I find while looking into myself. This is indeed very dangerous for people who try to promote some collective dogmatic and ethnic tribalism. It is apparently the individual and critical thinker who endangers any form of ideological dogmatism (in general) and Jewish collectivism (in particular).

What is the World Zionist Organization and the World Zionist Congress?
In 1897, Theodor Herzl convened about 200 Jewish leaders from around the world in Basel, Switzerland to discuss the condition of the Jewish People, the delegates at the meeting, or Congress, decided to create a movement whose goal was to establish a Jewish Homeland. The World Zionist Organization was born and led the campaign for the establishment of a Jewish State. The State of Israel came into being 51 years after the creation of the WZO. Since that time, the World Zionist Congress has met 34 times to resolve critical issues facing the Jewish people, from building Israel's infrastructure to the establishment of the State…from the aliyah following the Holocaust to the aliyah of today. The WZO also impacts and provides the contact and delivery of Zionist education to Jews throughout the Jewish World. The 35th World Zionist Congress, meeting in Jerusalem June 19-22 2006, will set an agenda that is certain to affect Israeli society and Israel-Diaspora relations for years to come.
American Zionist Movement?
The AZM is the U.S. affiliate of the WZO and fulfills the role of the Zionist Federation in this country. It is responsible for organizing and administering the U.S. elections to the Congress. The AZM is the umbrella organization for the youth and adult Zionist organizations in the United States and the American affiliate of the World Zionist Organization. AZM's mandate is to link American Jews with Israelis, strengthen Jewish identity through a strong connection to Israel and to deepen American's understanding of and appreciation for Israel society and the challenges it faces.

Zionist Election Has High Stakes, Strange Pairings
A spokesman for Hevesi, David Neustadt, said that his boss was so low on the Dor Zion slate that he “has absolutely no chance of being elected.” Hevesi agreed to run because he was asked by the executive director of B’nai Zion, one of the Dor Zion slate’s sponsoring organizations, Neustadt said. Hevesi is a former B’nai Zion chairman. Longtime Zionist observers remembered that in the late 1980s, when Hevesi was a New York State assemblyman, he ran on the center-left Friends of Labor Israel slate.

Jewish Officials Profess Shock Over Report on Zionist Body
The international body, the World Zionist Organization, or WZO, is described in the report as a pivotal player in the scheme, in which midlevel officials in various government ministries secretly channeled funds and resources to the illegal West Bank outposts. Several sources told the Forward that a WZO department, the Settlement Division, was used as a vehicle for many of the illegal activities, in part because its status as a nongovernmental organization shielded it from government oversight.

NEW YORK (JTA) -- Finalists are emerging in the race to head a powerful American Jewish organization whose leader is seen in many parts of the world as the "king of the Jews."
Candidates to replace Ronald Lauder as chairman of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations -- an umbrella organization of 54 groups -- reportedly were whittled from eight to three after interviews this week.
Lauder, a cosmetics magnate, philanthropist and former U.S. ambassador to Austria, finishes his two-year term in June.
The identity of the three finalists is being kept secret, but a number of Conference members and outside observers revealed that real estate magnate Morton Zuckerman, the honorary president of the American-Israel Friendship League and the publisher of U.S. News & World Report and New York Daily News -- is the favorite.
