Mental Health Screening For Everyone

Don't worry about alarmist rumblings in the news about the "President's New Freedom Commission on Mental Health". It is a plan for providing psychiatric mental health screening for the nation. It is necessary, because there is an alarming amount of mental illness at all levels of society, but no one really knows who they are therefore, everyone will need to be tested. But, don't let that scare you, because it is planned to be a painless, and "decision free" process. That means that you don't have to do a thing, they will take care of everything, and you can be sure it will be "free", so it won't cost anybody anything. Unless of course you are one of those who will need to be medicated... urr... treated.

The Texas Medication Algorithm Project, or TMAP, was named by the commission as a model medication treatment plan that illustrates an evidence-based practice that results in better consumer outcomes. Medical algorithms are a decision-free approach to treatment, which means that you don't even need to think about it. In 1995, TMAP began as an alliance of individuals from the University of Texas, the pharmaceutical industry, and the mental health and corrections systems of Texas. This plan was trumpeted by the American Psychiatric Association. So, you see, you are in good hands. Don't worry!

The State of Illinois is already on board with the plan:

CHICAGO -- Monday, July 19, 2004 This week, a series of public forums on a program requiring all pregnant women and children through age 18 years to be tested for mental health needs is being held this week in five different locations statewide.
       The $10 million plan for the setup of the Children's Mental Health Act of 2003 is being considered at this week's public forums starting Monday, July 18 in Champaign.
       Signed into law, the bill passed the Illinois General Assembly last spring, sponsored in the House by State Representatives Julie Hamos (D-Evanston) and Patricia Bellock (R-Westmont). State Senator Maggie Crotty (D-Oak Forest) and Susan Garrett (D-Highwood) shepherded the legislation through the Senate.

Similar legislation may be pending and/or already adopted in other States. Just to make sure that no State is left behind, the Federal program will put a bur under the saddle of any stragglers, or for many it will grease the skids with long green notes of Federal debt which is already a well oiled mechanism for neutralizing any and all opposition to the Federal agenda.¹ Have no fear, it will even help the cash strapped State budgets which have already been cut to the bone except for those programs which have Federal money behind them. Don't even ask where all this money comes from. If you are not working, or working a low pay job because your factory closed, you really don't "need to know".

This national mental health program will have other side effects which you will welcome if you or someone you know works for a pharmaceutical company, or has a government job with the FDA or other regulatory agency, or perhaps the new commission itself. The demand for more synthetic drugs, which are unavailable in nature, will throw them a lot of support, and help them to compete more effectively in the new global marketplace. Therefore, it will help to preserve American jobs in one of the last surviving of American industries, and in so doing, it will deal a blow to the scourge of "globalism". Your Great Uncle is watching out for you!

Perhaps you were unaware of the national trend of steadily increasing mental disorders. They have apparently existed all along, but no one ever thought to look for it until in recent years. However, according to the American Psychiatric Association, "Depressive disorders encompass major depressive disorder, dysthymic disorder, and bipolar disorder. Bipolar disorder is included because people with this illness have depressive episodes as well as manic episodes." There seems to be nearly nothing known about how this situation developed. However that may be, the important thing is to treat the symptoms since they now have the effective tools (drugs) to do the job. They know that "Depressive disorders may be appearing earlier in life in people born in recent decades compared to the past" - NIMH, so as you can see, they are now very much aware of the problem, and now that the volume of potential patients (liars figure, but figures don't lie) warrants the effort, they are determined to fight it against all odds, and/or opposition. "Resistance is futile", your mental anguish will be calmed and subdued in your own lifetime.

It seems that we've exhausted all other avenues of dealing with this serious problem ourselves. First Doctor Benjamin Spock ² tried to warn us that we were doing great harm to our children by spanking them. "If we are ever to turn toward a kindlier society and a safer world, a revulsion against the physical punishment of children would be a good place to start." - Dr. Spock Then the daycare providers tried to tell us that our children were acting a little strange. Then as spanking stopped, we found that child abuse had suddenly became the next big problem. Then as these grew to adulthood and began raising their own children, well the situation became most difficult and many children were expelled from the daycare centers and schools. The daycare providers and teachers themselves grew up in this environment, and many of them had suffered this "abuse" themselves, yet they really failed to see anything badly wrong except for all these selfish, screaming little children, who in turn became adults, and they have no idea or comprehension of life in the absence of this systemic problem. That's why we are so fortunate to have had the American Psychiatric Association and others like them studying this all these many years as the problem developed. Who would be in a better position to know what to do? After all, all else has failed.

If this information makes you fearful, and anxious, don't worry about that either. The American Psychiatric Association has a "solution" supplied by the pharmaceuticals to treat that "disorder" as well. The new synthetic chemical drugs are far more "consumer" friendly than the ice pick method used in years past. So, in conclusion, smile at the world as it whirls by on this merry-go-round called life in "the matrix" where your every whim and desire is instantaneously gratified, as your problems melt away into oblivion.

The criminal has already been stripped of his right to possess a gun so, there is no need for you to own one, therefore, the American Psychiatric Association is working hard (so you don't have to) through the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence to remove that danger from your midst as well, so you need to support them in this new program.

If this all makes you a little squeamish, it could be that you too are suffering from one of the many great delusions like freedom, liberty, independence, individualism, as well as many others. These too will come under the purview of the New Freedom Commission on Mental Health, which promises to free you from these maladies. So, you see, there really is nothing to fear except fear itself, which is just another symptom of a mental disorder. As you can readily see, all the basses are already covered, not only for your benefit, but for "the greater good" as well.

So, call your congressman today and tell him you want this in your State.
