"And the woman whom you saw is the great city, having a kingdom over the kings of the earth." ~ Revelation 17:18

"The great city" appears 10 times in the book of Revelation. The first occurrence (11:8) specifically identifies it as Jerusalem, the place "where our Lord was crucified".

The second occurrence identifies it "saying, The great city, Babylon, has fallen". Note the capitalized 'T'.

Each occurrence of 'great city' is preceded by the definite article 'the'. This means that it isn't just any old great city. The definite article 'the' points to a particular 'great city'. Namely, "Babylon the Great". Ancient Babylon is a place on the map of present day Iraq, but it is not a significant city and certainly not a 'great city' with anything like the world wide influence attributed to Babylon the Great.

"And I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast, filled with names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. And the woman was clothed in purple and scarlet, and being gilded with gold and precious stone and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand, filled with abominations and unclean things of her fornication. And on her forehead was a name having been written: Mystery, Babylon the Great, the Mother of the Harlots and of the Abominations of the Earth." ~ Revelation 17:3-5

Jerusalem is the greatest city on the face of the earth according to millions who hope for or expect even more greatness yet to come. Furthermore, her influence is felt the world over, and many nations curry her favor and help to protect her identity. The Jewish Rothschild banking dynasty controls the worlds finance according to some research.

The Bible specifically identifies Jerusalem as, "the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom, and Egypt, where our Lord was crucified".

Most attempts to identify Babylon the Great as "false religion", a government or some larger geographical area are made by people (Christian Zionists usually) who dream of a yet greater role for Jerusalem. It isn't going to happen, or if it does, it will be short lived.

Following are all ten occurrences of "the great city" in the context of its usage:
Revelation 11:8 And their bodies will be on the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom, and Egypt, where our Lord was crucified. (this is the first occurrence)

21:10 And he carried me in spirit on to a great and high mountain, and showed me the great city, holy Jerusalem, coming down out of Heaven from God. (this is the last occurrence)

Rev. 14: 8 And another angel followed, saying, The great city, Babylon, has fallen, has fallen because of the wine of the anger of her fornication she made all nations to drink.

16: 19 And the great city came to be into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell. And Babylon the great was remembered before God, to give to her the cup of the wine of the anger of His wrath.

17: 18 And the woman whom you saw is the great city, having a kingdom over the kings of the earth.
18: 9 ¶ And the kings of the earth will weep for her, and will wail over her, those having fornicated and having luxuriated with her, when they see the smoke of her burning;
10 standing from afar because of the fear of her torment, saying, Woe! Woe to the great city, Babylon, the strong city! For in one hour your judgment came.
[...]
16 and saying, Woe! Woe to the great city having been clothed in linen and purple and scarlet, and having been gilded with gold and precious stone, and pearls!
17 For in one hour such great wealth was desolated. And every ship-pilot and all company on the ships, and sailors, and as many as work the sea, stood from afar,
18 and cried out, seeing the smoke of her burning, saying, What is like the great city?
19 And they threw dust on their heads, and cried out, weeping and mourning, saying, Woe! Woe to the great city, by which all those having ships in the sea were rich, from her costliness, because in one hour she was ruined.
20 Rejoice over her, Heaven, and the holy apostles, and the prophets, because God judged your judgment on her.
21 And one strong angel lifted a stone like a great millstone, and threw it into the sea, saying, This way, on a violent impulse, Babylon the great city will be thrown down, and it will never more still be found.
22 And the sound of harpers, and of musicians, and flutists, and of trumpeters will not still be heard in you, never! And every craftsman of every craft will not still be found in you, never! And the sound of a mill will not still be heard in you, never!
23 And the light of a lamp will not at all still shine in you. And the voice of the bridegroom and bride will never more be heard in you. For your merchants were the great ones of the earth, for by your sorcery all the nations were led astray.
24 And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all the ones having been slain on the earth.

Of the ten instances of "the great city", the first is the one in the Middle East "where our Lord was crucified" and the last is a "new" Jerusalem "coming down out of Heaven from God". The eight instances in between all refer to Babylon the Great.

Todays modern state of Israel is "filled with abominations and unclean things of her fornication" with Babylonish gods. It is fornication because she presents herself to the world as "Gods chosen people". Nothing could be further from the truth. The state of Israel, far from being a theocratic state, loaths theocracy and is a secular humanist entity based on a political philosophy known as Zionism. It preys on those who identify with the ancient religion known as Judaism, and that is the source of its power and influence (see JUDAISM VERSUS ZIONISM).

The principles of the Babylonian Talmud (CE 200-500) are the Holy Grail of Zionism. Its a collection of the "oral traditions" which Jesus accused the Pharisees of using to oppress the people (Matthew 15).

The Mystery of Babylon, PART TEN: "They have perverted or changed Yahweh's ways, and the symbol of this perversion is a market measure. They were to be tillers and toilers in the land; they have become merchants and money lenders throughout the earth." ~ THE VISION OF THE EPHAH

Addendum:

Something I didn't mention in the email is the significance of number symbology. Of the ten instances of "the great city", the first is identified as the literal city of Jerusalem. The tenth is the new heavenly Jerusalem, and the eight in between are associated with the name Babylon. The Babylonian Talmud is one of the primary connections between Zionist Israel and ancient Babylon.

So we see three identities for "the great city" and the second one is emphasized with a capital 'T' (a similar emphasis is clear in other translations). Now the fourth instance says that "the great city came to be into three parts". I'm thinking that this is a reference to the three different identities, or three parts of the whole, the whole being sovereignty, rulership or kingdom. The modern day state of Israel certainly does see itself as the new center of the world with its new Temple as the focal point for moral justice according to Talmudic Law. Many True Believers also see Israel to be the fulfillment of Bible prophecy.

The esoteric symbology of the number 8 also seems fitting to describe the attributes of the present system under the global influence of Zionism (Babylon the Great): "Achievement, abundance, executive, strength, self-disciplined, power, success, authority, psychology, entrepreneur, intensity, supervisor, provider, grandeur, material manifestor."

The number ten, or zero (tenth instance) means: "Limitless, Unknowable, No-thing, Boundless, Truth, Purity, Love, All, Alpha and Omega, Possibility, First Cause, Unmanifest, Breath of God, Unified Field, Source, Space, Consciousness, Cosmic Egg, God."

The historical progression of the exercise of sovereignty starts with Nimrod's Babylon, then to the earthly representation of God's sovereignty (though never exercised as such), the ancient city of Jerusalem. Now the exercise of sovereignty is presently held by the global Zionist as if "having a kingdom over the kings of the earth", primarily through her influence over the dominant Anglo American world power. This will soon be followed by the "holy Jerusalem, coming down out of Heaven from God" under the heavenly king, God's own son (Jesus Christ), the firstborn who has been given the sovereign right to rule in the earth for a thousand years.
